All About Orem, Utah

Everything you need to know about Orem, Utah.  Thinking of moving here?  Visiting and want to know what there is to do in Orem?  We are happy to explain what life in Orem is all about from religion, fun, and median household income.

All About Orem

Orem Utah

Orem is a city in the Utah Region, Utah, USA, in the north part of the state. It adjoins Provo, Lindon, as well as Vineyard and is about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City (SLC). Orem is just one of the principal cities of the Provo-Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Locations.  The primary religion is Ladder Day Saints otherwise known as LDS or Mormon.  While I have never experienced any type of judgemental attitude from anyone some people online have complained about this coming from people of all types in the area.  As I have stated I have not experienced these issues and honestly have felt more welcome here than in many other states.

Spectacular mountain views and while air quality issues can arise it isn’t nearly as bad as Salt Lake.  If you are coming from an overpriced state then you can expect to get paid a lot less per hour as the wage in Utah is typically lower than most other states.

Bridal Veil Falls Next To Orem Utah

This is a River canyon waterfall close to the highway with a paved trail & picnic area with tables.  With spectacular views a place to feed fish (the machine if active takes quarters).  Kids and adults love this place!  This used to be the home to the world’s steepest tram but an avalanche destroyed it and at that point the restaurant at the top became inactive.  Recently they have disassembled the restaurant to restore the beauty of the mountain and waterfall view since it was not in operation.  Still a wonderful place for pictures and fresh air!

The whole canyon has spectacular views and is a photographer’s dream come true!  The trails and pathways are paved and completely ADA accessible.  All of this is brought to you by a private owner so please respect the land (even public or private please keep our environment clean and healthy).  Take your trash with you and as a good rule of thumb, you should haul out more than you hauled in (it’s good to help keep the area clean even if it isn’t your garbage) this is something my father taught me long ago.

More About Orem, Utah

When visiting the falls in Orem, you should plan to bring sunscreen, drinking water, and if you are like me a picnic for the family.  I would tease my children when they were much younger, we were like bears going out for a family picnic.  You can visit nearby parks that have campfire areas and roast marshmallows.  During the winter this area is supposed to be off-limits due to high avalanche risks.  Some people still choose to climb the ice much like rock climbing.  Personally, I have seen the destruction of an avalanche and avoid this area during the winter months.  My best friend died in an avalanche up Aspen Grove in his early twenties and will never risk taking any chances with mother nature.

When visiting anything outdoors please don’t litter!  Keep nature wonderful, beautiful, and enjoyable for all for many more years to come.  It’s very depressing to see garbage laying on the mountain or trail-ways.  I personally pick up others’ trash and haul it off to try and preserve the natural beauty of Utah.

As always enjoy it with the family, friend, or neighbor and remember to bring your phone or camera to take plenty of pictures to remember the great experience you had visiting these amazing caves.
